Insurance and Fee Information
Baton Rouge Counseling is a private pay organization and thus it is important you understand our insurance and fee information. We do not accept insurance assignment, nor do we contract with any managed care companies. We realize this is difficult for some individuals. However, if you have insurance and your policy has a provision for “out of network benefits” (sometimes called “non-participating provider benefits”), we can, after each session, provide you with a Health Insurance Claim Form (HCFA-1500) with most of the information already filled out.
We also provide you with a bill and receipt so that after each session so that you can submit these to your insurance company for reimbursement directly to you. A number of our clients use this method and recoup between 50% – 85% of the fees they’ve paid.
An important part of our insurance and fee information is that payment is due at time of service and we accept cash and credit/debit cards, and most Health Savings Account (HSA) cards.
If you chose to use a debit card for payment, then prepayment is required for regular sessions.
Prepayment is required for all initial sessions when you call and schedule. Again, you can use credit, debit, or HSA cards. Please feel free to contact us to find out more information about how payment and scheduling work.
The cost for the initial appointment is $185 for individuals and $225 for couples. That initial appointment is 2 hours and includes approximately 15 minutes of paperwork, so it is good to arrive a bit early. At your initial appointment we do require that you place a credit or debit card on file, and again if it is a debit card, then you must pre-pay for your next session. Credit cards and HSA cards do not require pre-payment.
The regular appointments thereafter are $125 for individuals and $150 for couples and are an entire hour long. (We do not believe in the ’50 minute hour’).
We do have a 24-hour cancellation policy, so you must contact us by phone at least 24-hours in advance of your appointment to cancel or reschedule, otherwise you will be charged the full fee.
